Doe Deere, the purple-haired genius behind the Lime Crime name, is also known as the Queen of Unicorns. Believe it or not, however, she wasn’t always known as such. Guest of a Guest released an article with an interview on Doe Deere. It’s very interesting to read, especially if you’re a fan of Lime Crime or anything associated with the beauty industry.
Doe Deere spent her beginning years in Russia. This is where she started her very first business: selling temporary tattoos, which was a novelty at the time. Doe Deere was only thirteen when she began her temporary tattoo business in Russia. Her marketing tactic was to insist that it was okay to have a temporary tattoo on you, and that it looked “cool.” If her current appearance is any indication of what she looked like then, it was probably easy for Doe Deere to sell her temporary tattoos by stating that they were cool, since she has an undeniable sense of style.
At the young age of seventeen, she moved to the United States. She lived in New York City where she made it as a musician, which was one of her biggest dreams. Being a musician helped her learn more about career-related topics and marketing, and she appreciated all of the people who would come out to her events.
During her time in New York City, she lived in Manhattan. Doe Deere then spent nine years in Brooklyn, which she refers to as her stomping ground. New York has a big impact on her, since that is not only where she played as a musician, but met her husband. They were in a band together were they worked as songwriters. Doe Deere says that being in a band with him helped her learn how to collaborate with him, which is how she ended up building a relationship.
Doe Deere has definitely accomplished much and is a great role model for girls everywhere. In the interview, she states that the best advice she can give to other girls out there is to follow your heart, because every person has something special about them, such as a unique skill or quality that only they can bring into this world. She also says that it’s important to be in touch with yourself and to really know who you are in order to provide the best value.
Another interesting part of the interview includes how Lime Crime came into being the company it is today: during the time, the makeup industry was still selling natural looking colors and hues. However, Doe Deere was looking for brighter and bolder lipsticks and shades. After realizing it was impossible to find these colors, Doe Deere began Lime Crime.
Today, Lime Crime is sold at Ulta online and is one of the biggest pioneers in the makeup industry. Learn more: https://theweirdstore.net/blogs/the-weird-store/how-doe-deere-became-queen-of-the-unicorns
